Privacy policy

What FirstNom collects, what it does not, and where your baby's data lives.

Last updated: 6 September 2026

The short version

FirstNom is local-first. Your baby's name, birth date, food log and allergen history are stored on your device. We do not sell data, we do not run ad networks, and we do not need an account for you to use the app or this website.

This website

The site is a static site. It sets no advertising cookies and asks for no login. If we add privacy-respecting analytics later, this page will say so before it goes live, and it will be an aggregate page-view tool with no cross-site tracking.

Nothing you type into the food search leaves your browser except as a query string on the resulting page URL, which our host may record in standard server logs alongside IP address and user agent. Those logs are used for security and debugging and are not linked to a person.

The app

The pediatrician PDF

The allergen export is generated on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere. Where it goes after that — email, print, a messaging app — is entirely your choice and out of our hands.

Children

FirstNom is for parents and carers, not for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. The information you record about your baby stays on your device.

Your rights

Because your data is on your device, deleting the app deletes it. If you have contacted us by email and want that correspondence removed, or you want to know what we hold, write to [email protected] and we will action it within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, you have the rights set out in the GDPR, including access, correction, erasure and complaint to your national supervisory authority.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes.
